Description
Serra Devassa
Walking Tour
Serra Devassa is located on the west side of the island of São Miguel and is part of one of the two volcanic complexes belonging to Sete Cidades.
This trail provides you with a stunning walk to discover several small lagoons (Lagoa das Éguas, do Carvão, Empadadas and Lagoa Rasa).
The beginning marks a somewhat steep climb, where you can see the immense blue ocean, as well as the north and south coast of the island of São Miguel.
Along our route, we can see several endemic plants, until we reach the lagoon of the empadadas, whose lagoons, seem to be twins, due to their size, their shape.
When we leave the lagoon of the empadadas and next to the lagoon of Carvão, we can see an old aqueduct, already in ruins, which once served to bring water to the populations.
Immerse yourself in the splendid nature and observe several species of fauna (Beech, Heather and Laurel) that adorn and flavor your path and at the same time and accompanied by the harmonious sound of the birds that make this place their habitat.
