Description
Being the Serra Devassa located on the west side of the island of São Miguel and being part of one of the two volcanic complexes belonging to the Seven Cities, the trail being a circular circuit, we started and finished this course, next to the Lagoon of the Canário.
This trail gives you a breathtaking walk to the discovery of several lagoons (Lagoa das Éguas, Carvão, Empadadas and Rasa) and several points, where you can see the immense blue ocean, as well as the north and south coast of island of São Miguel.
Our beginning marks a very steep climb, until we see one of several lagoons there that are part of this volcanic complex, the Éguas lagoon. Along our route, we can see several endemic plants, see some springs, we can see several times the south coast of the island, as well as the north coast of the island of San Miguel.
Our point of greatest tourist and landscape interest is found in the Empadadas lagoon, whose ponds seem to be twins, due to their size, shape, tonality of waters and also because of their flanked and protected by Cryptomies,
When we leave the Empadadas lagoon and next to the lagoon of the Coal, we can see an old aquaduct, already in ruins, that in time, served to carry water to the populations.
Let yourself be enveloped by the splendorous nature and observe various species of fauna (Faia, Urze and Laurel) that adorn and aromatize your course and at the same time and accompanied by the harmonious sound of the birds that make this place their habitat.
