Departing from Ponta Delgada, we will start our tour on a circular route along the south coast and return to the north coast of the island, where it will be possible to explore the coast, with stops in traditional fishing ports, Franca do Campo and we will take a guided tour of the scallop factory, as well as tea plantations in one of the factories on the north coast of our island.
We will be around 12:30 next to the Furnas lagoon, to watch the withdrawal of the famous stew of Furnas and one of the typical dishes of the Azorean Cuisine, likewise, to know the whole surrounding area, especially the fumaroles and boilers,
Then we will go to the center of Furnas, where we will walk to the restaurant selected by us, where you can try the stew co-molded in volcanic soil.
After lunch, it is time to visit the village of furnas, its boilers, its fumaroles and springs of mineral water, and it is also possible to taste some delicious traditional liqueurs made by a local company.
We will give you some time to relax a little, which can be a relaxing walk through Parque Terra Nostra, the largest botanical garden in S. Miguel, or a thermal bath in the pools of Dona Beija, it is a small complex of small pools of thermal water, due to being near a source of hot water.

“This was my first tour with Leon the guide , and it was an amazing trip. He showed me the vistas along the north coast incl. the tea factory and explained the sights very well. We then entered Furnas first the vista on the top of the caldera and then into the village itself. He even showed me a spot near the river where you can take a nice foot bath in both hot and cold water. I can only recommend Leon as a guide, he is goes out of his way to make sure you get the most of your time, and is very knowledgable about the area.”

Review From Viator
The tour was exactly as described and more. Our tour guide was excellent, we had some extra time so he took us to a couple of more places that were not listed on the tour. He was very informative and extremely polite. His love for the island and friendly nature made the experience wonderful. Lunch at the restaurant was excellent and the service was great. I highly recommend trying the corn on the cob cooked in the boiling water of the volcano . We could have spent all day in the thermal baths it was so beautiful . Don’t miss out on a great day and a great experience .
